2021 is a year of new beginnings for my family. It will include a move and small steps towards the horse facilty I have always wanted.
The start of our breeding program came with VF Burrs Eye. He was purchased in 2002, and was a 2 yr old son of Burrs First Down out of a proven producing Mystic Eye daughter. He was everything we wanted in a stallion. He had a kind eye, gentle disposition, big bone and an incredible work ethic. He was our "go to" ranch horse, we team roped in the evenings and he was making a good start as a barrel horse until an injury early in his career left him breeding sound only. When he passed away at 14, we were lucky to have another gem standing out in our own pasture. FlitYeahImaFirewater comes from a strong stakes producing female family and is by a very proven son of Fire Water Flit. He was my dream horse from the very beginning and I am proud to call him mine.
My program is for a horse to have an enormous work ethic and the ability to win in today's top barrel racing competition, natural cow to work a ranch job, conformation to stay sound and that disposition to make them easy to along with for any rider.
I am proud of the prospects and riding horses we have raised, trained and sold through the years and enjoy seeing them win for their new owners. I feel blessed to ride these same horses while working cattle and barrel racing through the years. In 2019 I began sponsoring a fun new award for the Fizz Bomb Barrel Futurity held right here in Wyoming and also started one for the Colorado Classic Futurity and Grid Iron in SD. It's called the Homegrown Award and it will be given to the highest placing breeder/owner/rider combination entered in each futurity. I would love to see someone that has bred to Gunner, win on a baby they also trained and are riding, in the near future!
I have 2 helpers, my boys Colt 12 and Remington 8. They are very involved with the horse program and I look forward to when they will start offering their opinion picking out new mares and we can do this venture together.
In 2019 I became an AQHA National Director for Wyoming. I will do my best to advocate for the American Quarter Horse and the membership.
