Meet our family! Brian and I met in college while in the horse program together. We were married in 2000 and started raising horses the next spring. Our first 2 broodmares were our best ranch mares and they produced some outstanding riding horses for us. In 2002 we purchased VF Burrs Eye, a 2 yr old son of Burrs First Down out of a proven producing Mystic Eye daughter. He was everything we wanted in a stallion. He had a kind eye, gentle disposition, big bone and an incredible work ethic. He was our "go to" ranch horse, we team roped in the evenings and he was making a good start as a barrel horse until an injury early in his career left him breeding sound only. When he passed away we were lucky to have another gem standing out in our own pasture. FlitYeahImaFirewater comes from a strong stakes producing female family and is by a very proven son of Fire Water Flit. His foundation bred top side is a stray from what we are used to, but he has what it takes to become a sire and we are proud to call him ours.
Through the years we have adjusted our program but always hold true to our belief in what makes a good using horse. One that we can ranch on during the week and I can haul to barrel races on the weekend with traits that are appealing to the public. We carefully choose which bloodlines have what we are looking for and constantly try to improve with every new mare we purchase. Our desire is for a horse to have an enormous work ethic and the ability to win in today's top barrel racing competition, natural cow to work a ranch job, conformation to stay sound and that disposition to make them easy to along with for any rider.
We are proud of the prospects and riding horses we have raised, trained and sold through the years and enjoy seeing them win for their new owners. We feel blessed to ride these same horses while working cattle on the family ranch. In 2019 we began sponsoring a fun new award for the Fizz Bomb Barrel Futurity held right here in Wyoming and also one for the Colorado Classic Futurity. Called the Homegrown Award, it will be given to the highest placing breeder/owner/rider combination entered in each futurity. In 2020 we added the same award to the Gridiron in SD. We would love to see someone that has bred to Gunner, win one in the near future!
We have 2 boys Colt 11 and Remington 7, that are at our side learning the ins and outs of ranching and keeping everyone busy with their 4H projects. We love the lifestyle it provides for our family and enjoy working together.
2019 was an exciting year as we were accepted as AQHA Ranching Heritage Breeders and I became an AQHA National Director for Wyoming.
